Basics of Playing Back Sound in 618

When using the studio iMac…
To hear sound from a web browser (i.e., Safari or Chrome), Apple Music, or from a finder window, make sure that "Universal Audio Thunderbolt" is selected as the playback device in the Audio menu.

• To hear sound from Logic, go the Logic Menu->Preferences->Audio->Devices, and make sure "Universal Audio Thunderbolt" is both the OUTPUT and INPUT device.

• To adjust the playback volume, turn the MONITOR knob on the Apollo X8 interface. You can also plug in headphones on the Apollo X8 and adjust the headphone volume independently for the speakers.

When using you're own laptop…
• Connect the 1/8" TRS cable that's on the desk to the headphone output of your laptop (on Windows computers, this will look different than on the image below).

• Make sure the "External Headphones" is selected in the Audio menu (on Windows computers, this will look different than on the image below).

• Then bring up to about "0" the TWO faders on the blue Yamaha mixer labeled "LAPTOP L R". Play audio for your computer and you should hear sound on the speakers. Adjust the volume on your laptop (NOT ON THE APOLLO X8, as above, which completely unrelated to playback from your computer).
